about Bonnie Minardi

Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Bonnie’s love of art began developing at a young age. Spending countless hours at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, her childhood interests grew into a life long passion.

Bonnie’s artwork is about seeing beyond the surface of life experiences. She uses layers of paint and textures that symbolize the stories behind what she observes or imagines. Her process begins with building the surface of a canvas with various mediums including music sheets, rice papers, and pages from a childhood book of nursery rhymes that her Grandfather read to her. The rich texutures create a history of the painting which can be felt but is not always visible.

Bonnie’s current work focuses on two of her favorite symbols: keys and leaves. These universal icons take on different meanings for people. Different perspectives are what make us unique and for Bonnie, art brings those together.

Bonnie graduated from the University of San Francisco, and has participated in the fine arts program at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California. Her paintings have been included in numerous exhibits as well as corporate and private collections.
